When their self-esteem drops the students may to think â€Å"why even attend school† or â€Å"what is the point of going to class†. Students find it hard to pay attention in class while learning when the material given out is boring. If students start to lose interest in the subject or topic they are learning about, it may lead them falling asleep in class, staring at the clock waiting until class is over, or disturbing another person in class to communicate about something else. Once a student has lost interest in school its highly expected students will not start to show up for class. High school students drop out of school because the teachers don’t make the class more interesting. Students would go in to class and ones it starts the students would start starring into space thinking and using their imagination. Teachers sometimes don’t have that ability to try and get the students more motivated in what the whole class is about. Mr. Brownlee class is a perfect example of why students don’t learn and achieve in school. For my 10th grade geometry class, he would go in class give us a minute to sit down have a seat and then he starts lecturing. Students would go into class late because of how boring it would be, or not making it interesting. Math was a subject to teach students how to work the numbers and how to use them, but he never really made any sense to what he was saying or doing. For the rest of the semester it would just be ditching his class, playing around or slacking on his work because there was never homework. Mr. Bownlee ended up passing the kids without trying on their own and making their grade easier. In my opinion teachers should always make an attempt

And a lot more: In-App Analytics Facebook and LinkedIn both make it easy to gather competitive data directly in-app. Here's where to find that information on each channel. Facebook: To find your Facebook data, select Insights. Scroll down your insights page to the bottom, where you'll find a section called  Pages To Watch  . Here you will see where your Facebook page is ranking among your top five competitors. You can see who else Facebook sees as your competition by selecting See More Pages. LinkedIn: To find how your company page is doing in LinkedIn analytics, select Manage Page, then Analytics. In Analytics a drop down menu will appear. Select Followers. Step Two: Find Your Competitors The next step in your competitor analysis is finding the competitors that you want to track. This is a vital part of your analysis because who you choose as your competitors will determine what you’re going to judge your social strategy against. Before you jump straight into your research there are two things you need to do first: Determine if you’re working with direct or indirect competitors. Understand your level of competition (local, regional, national, global, etc). There are two types of competitors:  Direct and Indirect. Direct competitors are the ones who offer the same services and products as you. For example, Domino’s Pizza’s direct competitors would be Pizza Hut, Godfather's and other delivery places. All of them offer the same services and a relatively similar product. Indirect competitors are the ones who offer some of the same services that you do, but it may not be all that they do. Unlike direct competitors, indirect competitors will overlap somewhat with your business strategy but not completely. If we go back to our Domino’s example, some of their competitors would be Walmart, DiGiorno’s, convenience stores or other grocery stores that sell pizza. In order to decide who you’re going to research first, your team needs to determine if you compete at a local, regional, national, or global level. Then, buckle down and see if you can turn up competitors in your market at each level. Google Search Google is one of the easiest and most obvious tools to find competitors. Google is careful to serve results aligned with the search intent and location of the search, which means that you need to be specific in what you are looking for and where. Things like â€Å"Starbucks near me† or â€Å"Holiday Inn’s in Sacramento California† are ways to show Google that you’re looking for a specific company or place within one area. For a local search, it could look something like: Note that attaching a city to your search is key to helping you find those local results. Especially if you want to change the town that you are looking in. A  regional search  could look like: And a national search could look like this: In-App Searches If you want to look for competitors through a specific social media channel, you can usually find them through an in-app search: To complete state and nation wide searches, change the end of your search wide to a state or the US. In addition to Facebook, Instagram also allows a location specific search. However, to see results you need to scroll through the list that pops up after your search. If you click or hit enter, it will take you to the top tagged location for that area. Another limit to the Instagram search is that locations need to be tagged on each post. That means your results will not be all encompassing like Facebook or Google. Industry Publications Most industries will have some kind of industry publication  where people can get the latest news on trends and industry tips. Think your industry is too boring to have its own media? You might be surprised. In order to find them, you need to turn once again to the almighty Google (or whatever search engine you prefer to use). Think your industry is too boring to have its own publications? Think again.To find those publications, type in publications for [insert industry here] industry. Alternately, you can also search "blogs" or "magazines" in place of "publications" to make sure your search is thorough. Google will then populate a list of the top publications related to your industry, which you can then explore. To Do: Conduct three different searches across Google, social media sites, and industry publications both on and offline to help find competitors. Step Three: Choose Your Top Five Competitors This is probably one of the most difficult parts of your process because after your research you could have a huge list of competitors. Instead of having a list of competitors that extends a page or two down your document, narrow your field down to your top five. They can span across different sizes and locations, meaning that you could have a mix of direct and indirect competitors, and local, regional, and national brands. Other metrics that you could use to help choose your competitors could be: Similar audience size. Services offered. Same number of locations. The main thing that you need to ask yourself is, who do you want to go toe-to-toe with and why? At this point, you can pull out that competitive analysis template that you downloaded earlier. You’ll notice the first tab is labeled Introduction: In that first tab you can enter in: The name of your competitor. Their location. Whether they’re a direct or indirect competitor. Their website link. To Do: Choose your top five competitors based on Whether or not they’re a direct competitor. Is your competitor a local, regional, or national brand. Enter your chosen competitors into your competitive analysis report. Step Four: Set Competitive Analysis Goals Your team is taking the time to research and monitor your competitors for a reason. But if you don’t know what that reason is, you’re going to end up sitting on a bunch of data wondering what you can do with it. To make sure that your team doesn’t waste their time, take the time to ask why this analysis is important and what questions are you hoping to answer? Some example questions that you could answer are: What gaps are our competitors leaving that we could fill to entice our target audience to choose us? What are our competitors doing well that would be difficult for us to take the time to replicate? How quickly are they growing compared to us? What types of content are they publishing that is causing their audience to interact with it? How often are they responding to their fans? These questions aren’t all inclusive by any means, but they can serve as a jumping off point for your team. Are you setting goals for your #social #media competitive analysis?You can also set goals that help put you above your competition. What that means for your team is: if you see your top competitor is growing their followers by a certain percentage, you want to grow your followers even faster. How you go on to tackle your competition will be up to you. If your competitors are growing their following by x% every month, how can you recreate that progress? You also need to determine if where your competitors are growing is something you want to invest your time into. If your competitors are growing their followers, good for them, but maybe your team wants to focus on content instead? Some questions to ask your team: What are some ways that we can increase our follower growth to x% above our top competitor? How many messages do we currently send on [Channel]? How can we increase that number? What can we do to increase our engagements per post on [Channel]? To Do: Brainstorm with your social media team and choose three questions to start that you want your competitor analysis to answer for you. You can add more as your team begins the process but don’t overwhelm them by trying to answer all 12 at once. Step Five: Choose The Channels You’ll Monitor So you have your top five competitors. Now what? Time to choose the channels you’ll be monitoring. With this process, you’ll have two different options. The first is to monitor the channels that you are active on and only observe channels that both you and your competitors are on. Meaning if you’re on Twitter and your competitor is on Twitter and Facebook, you’d only be observing their activity on Twitter. Your second option is to monitor all of your competitor’s social channels even if they are not active on all of the same ones that you are. In your competitive analysis template, you’ll see a tab dedicated to each social media channel. Depending on which channels you’re tracking, you’ll need to fill out the competitor’s name, their username or handle for each as well as a link to their profile: You’ll need to repeat that process for every social media channel that your team has decided to track your competitors on. We’ll go over the rest of those columns a little later in this post. Do better #social #media competitive analysis with this guide + free templateStep Six: Check Out Their Content Strategy The next part of your analysis is going to involve researching and analyzing your competitor’s content strategy for every channel that they are active on. For this part of your research, turn to the Content Strategy tab in your template: You’ll notice that this tab is laid out a little different than the rest, but don’t worry, we’ll go over how to fill in the data you’ve collected. The first thing you need to do is fill in the name of one of the competitors you’re looking to gather information on. For this example, let’s pretend we’re doing competitive research on Starbucks. Your template would look like this: Determine Post Type The first content strategy metric your team is going to track is post type. There are four types of posts that a brand can share on social media: Curated:  Posts where the original article, photo, video, etc. was created by someone else and then shared by the brand later. Original:  Posts where the content has been created by the brand and shared to its social channels. Promotional:  Posts where their main goal is to get their audience members to buy or subscribe to something. Educational:  Posts where their main goal is to educate the intended audience. So now that you have your four post types, you can begin to go through your competitor’s channels. How in depth your team wants to go will determine how far back you’re going to go into their social channels and normally falls into one of three segments: One week One month Six months Once you determine how far back you want to track their posts you can begin scrolling through feeds and recording the different types of posts you see: So let’s say that you scroll through Starbucks’s Facebook feed and see that they publish on  average seven messages per week, some are knowledge posts and some are curated posts. Then of those posts you see that 2 knowledge posts are in a video format, one is a photo and one is a blog. The curated posts on the other hand are all links. Keep track of those different media formats in your spreadsheet as well: The final section that you’re going to fill out about post types in this tab is the number of times they post within a certain date: You may need to add additional lines if there is more than one frequent post type. To do this, highlight the row you want to add to, right click your mouse and select Insert: You can continue repeating this process for each of your competitor’s social channels. This is a section in your report where you can keep track of every content type that your competitors are using on each of their social channels. Aren’t voice and tone the same thing? No, while they are similar there are subtle differences that need to be identified. Voice: Overall brand personality. Voice can be developed and described many different ways although a common practice is to summarize it in three adjectives  that encompasses how the brand sounds overall. There are also the careless types who do not care at all and are comfortable with just any grade for as long as it is a pass. I therefore understand what it takes for one be a great group leader. Our Group Dynamics team lacked the kind of person who can measure to the standards of a group leader. Nevertheless, have a strong conviction that our group could have been strong even with no strong leadership but it appeared like some of the members only wanted to achieve a passing grade. Registering high scores was not there business for as long as they could proceed to the next level and therefore they put minimal efforts towards the success of the group. The group I worked with this semester had many similarities with other groups on real job sites. It is particularly very had in some instances to bring together different in a group and have them work coherently. In my opinion this explains the high turnover rates that many companies have to struggle with. Corporations have no time and resources to allow employees long periods to learn one another and work as a team; changes are made almost as immediate as it is discovered that there is not fit. On the other hand class work is an opportunity for all to learn and there every member it required to participate and learn as much as possible as to as to become efficient. Conflicts will always arise in groups but quick amicable solutions ensure that the group remains on course; challenges were there in my group just like any other. In my opinion this was a very exciting learning experience as the professor assigned us to groups randomly and this allowed us to learn together with classmates we have not related before. it was almost

Why do police have these beliefs, and what is the reality of the situation? When responding to calls few inspire more dread among police officers than answering to a domestic call. Police have generally the perception of risk of injury, assault and even death. There is always this perception among police officers when answering domestic calls. Such perception cannot be avoided because domestic calls most often than not have the element of unpredictability. Emotions are high and this can run even higher if coupled with drugs and alcohol. Indeed, responding to a domestic call can be very risky on the part of the police officers. When they respond to such call, they are perceived as the threat instead of being the protector. Traditionally, a police officer would respond to a call and restore peace as soon as possible and then clear from the call. The community policing philosophy dictates that the officer review of the problem, analyze it and try to come up with a solution to the problem. (Denise Papagno). However, this theory is not realistic at all. Upon responding to a domestic call, the police officer enters into a domestic abode as a protector, but in the eyes of the owners of the abode despite his good intentions, he will always be the intruder. Hence, the police officer cannot effectively do his job especially if the victim refuses to leave and instead would insist in not doing anything or even file a complaint for that matter. It is essentially difficult for police officers to face and respond to domestic calls as society now views domestic calls as a serious crime and not merely a private family quarrel. The fact that not all of the police are educated in handling domestic issues or why the victim does not leave her abuser or why the batterer abuses the victim. Because of this, the police fail to understand victims of domestic calls and are less inclined to help them in the next call. The job basically entails maintaining order against threats to order itself – wild animals, fire or unruly behaviour. However, at the turn of the century, policing has evolved into something more than being a night watchman. Police not only has to maintain order in their respective communities but they are also tasked to solve and fight crimes. Hence, the notion that police can solve any crime reported to them grew. As crime fighters, this notion has proven to be an additional burden to policing. Even simple and private nuisances such as littering, drunkenness and unruly behaviour are called in and reported to the police. Hence, this takes up on the workload of policing instead of focusing more on the serious crime-solving work. But together with the notion of being crime-fighters came the myth of police brutality. The average citizen sees policemen as having â€Å"zero-tolerance†. For example, in domestic calls, instead of turning in their abuser, victims would opt not to do anything for fear of the police. If they fear their abusers, victims fear the police more. It does not help that there are also police mandates such as that of Rudy Giuliani who implemented a version of Broken Windows policing across New York City. Thus, policemen were tasked to become aggressive in stamping out public disorder such as drunkenness, jaywalking and noisiness. In reality however, policing is not just being brutal and aggressive towards those lawbreakers. The concept of â€Å"community policing† has made advancement in policing. Thus, police officers who are on foot patrol have elevated the common myth about policing because admittedly, an officer who is inside the squad car and safely sealed inside cannot relate with the other people from the neighbourhood.

Louis XIV: The Greatest Leader of France The Days of Elegance The term "splendid" is one that most English speaking people are familiar with. To most of those people it has a meaning related to the overall appearance or feeling of what ever is being described. Webster's dictionary defines the term as: 1. magnificent and sumptuous. 2. distinguished or glorious. Splendor is more that that. It is an adjective that could be used to describe something so great and breath taking that one is left awed. The word splendid is often associated with the palace of Versailles, which was built Louis XIV. In the production of this grand structure there was no cost spared. It became a symbol of France, and a model by which all other palaces would be judged. Louis XIV received a great deal of criticism from onlookers as he used the French equivalent to millions of dollars to built this outstanding structure. There is still some speculation as to whether or not this was a good investment. It has been argued that the money could have gone to the poor or needy. The palace of Versailles was controversial, but in high insight, it is clear that Louis XIV made a sound decision in its erection. As Louis XIV took the throne, he was faced with several problems. He knew that he did not want to reside and rule in Paris, so against the will of his advisors he chose a hunting chateau as the site of his new palace. He also knew from history that the nobles of his domain had in the past and would continue to cause trouble in the form of uprisings and other conflicts. Louis XIV sought absolute power, and he knew that he would not be able to obtain this if preoccupied by civil conflicts. His solution to this problem was building Versailles and inviting all of the nobles to reside there. This was a brilliant scheme to keep the nobles out of the politics of the country. He preoccupied them with tasked normally associated with chamber maids, thus allowing him to rule as an absolute monarch. The splendor of the palace was a key factor in this plan because with out it, the nobles would not have a willing to leave their homes and move to Versailles. Adulthood: Meaning of Life and Adult Essay

?Like most people, I had the urge to grow up quickly. Despite the constant â€Å"they grow up so fast† from relatives, it was not fast enough for me. I used to say, â€Å"I can’t wait until I grow up,† usually when I was frustrated with my mom’s strict rules. I fantasized about living a posh life, walking under the warm sun wearing designer shades with my athletic boyfriend before stopping at a restaurant and drinking expensive wines without my mom nagging me. My fantasy would abruptly end when my mom shattered my thoughts by reminding me that it was getting late and I had not yet started my homework. Sigh. Through my own experiences—wearing excessive makeup to make myself appear older and dating older guys—and enlightenment, my views of being an adult have changed. Adulthood is something that will occur whether we are ready or not. College is a big leap that forces people into that transition from childhood to the beginning of adult life, especially if you are going to be living on campus. In college, I will have to cook and clean and care for myself. I will no longer have my mom telling me to avoid certain people, not to procrastinate and to make the right decisions. However, I will be able to keep the advice my mom has instilled in me so far, even when we are apart, although it may be hard to do so with the partying and alcohol and stress of college. Legally, being an adult could mean being 18, yet there is no way that minute that distinguishes someone from being 17 on one day and 18 the next can determine their adulthood. Being an adult comes gradually as people take responsibilities for their actions, take care of priorities and look out for themselves with limited support of others. Adulthood is not determined by age or ability to bear children or being physically developed. I know people older than 18 who have not yet obtained these traits and I’ve seen many teen moms dependent on their parents to support the baby. I will be an adult when I am able to make the right decisions determined by my morals that I have acquired over my years, when I understand the repercussions of my actions, when I am self-sufficient or accept limited help from parents or friends, and when I care not only for myself but others. The closer I get the more frightened I become. Now I’m in no rush to become an adult. I will take advantage of my mom’s guidance and housing and rules for as long as I can. I will enjoy the moment I am in and embrace my life when I am an adult. What does make you a grown-up? Is it moving out of the house? Hitting a certain age? Having a relationship? Getting a job? How is it that we can do those things, that we consider to be â€Å"adult†, but we still feel like kids? Or that we feel like grown-ups, we’re certainly old enough, but we haven’t seemed to have accomplished any of those things â€Å"grown-ups† have done? For me being an adult is a compilation of various features and components and is more or less a personal achievement. There is no exact pattern of becoming an adult as every single person has their own way of improvement. But you always have to make that first step that draws the beginning of your self-improving. There are a number of abilities I believe you have to acomplish in order to even begin to get closer to being an adult. The ability of making reasonable decisions for yourself and people around you, being able to take responsibility for your actions, able to make the most of what you have and try to improve yourself in any possible way. Becoming an adult is a journey everyone should make at a certain moment in order to become the most they can be, to grow as an individual – mentaly and spiritually. Many people find it rather difficult and they†¦ [continues] There is no clear determinant for determining when a person becomes an adult, Some say it’s when you turn eighteen others say it’s when you get your drivers license. One thing is for sure though to become an adult you must be mature and ready to take on the world. Being an adult means achieving a separate identity, being able to support your self and/or your family financially, and being able to provide yourself with a house or a place to call home. Adulthood consists of many different aspects, and is not an easy part of life. To become an adult you must achieve a separate identity. Erik Erickson a Austrian psychologist defined identity as â€Å"a sense of self part from one’s family. † This means to be an adult you must become independent so that you will be provided the opportunity to learn and take responsibility for your own lives. Young adults need to know who they are in order to be self-dependent, they also need to know their strengths and weaknesses, and the values they consider to be important to them. People never seem to quite understand the meaning of being an â€Å"adult†. I myself am not very sure of the full meaning of it. It has always seemed to me that age is irrelevant. Many people my age think that getting out of their parents’ house is an act of maturity but how does changing your situation prove that you are an â€Å"adult†? If they run away from home it is more likely to lose themselves trying to cope alone and underprepared with the difficulties in life. To become an adult you must achieve a separate identity. Still everyone perceives the world and every thought in it through their own consciousness. Adulthood: Meaning of Life and Adult Essay ?Like most people, I had the urge to grow up quickly. Despite the constant â€Å"they grow up so fast† from relatives, it was not fast enough for me. I used to say, â€Å"I can’t wait until I grow up,† usually when I was frustrated with my mom’s strict rules. I fantasized about living a posh life, walking under the warm sun wearing designer shades with my athletic boyfriend before stopping at a restaurant and drinking expensive wines without my mom nagging me. My fantasy would abruptly end when my mom shattered my thoughts by reminding me that it was getting late and I had not yet started my homework. Sigh. Through my own experiences—wearing excessive makeup to make myself appear older and dating older guys—and enlightenment, my views of being an adult have changed. Adulthood is something that will occur whether we are ready or not. College is a big leap that forces people into that transition from childhood to the beginning of adult life, especially if you are going to be living on campus. In college, I will have to cook and clean and care for myself. I will no longer have my mom telling me to avoid certain people, not to procrastinate and to make the right decisions. However, I will be able to keep the advice my mom has instilled in me so far, even when we are apart, although it may be hard to do so with the partying and alcohol and stress of college. Legally, being an adult could mean being 18, yet there is no way that minute that distinguishes someone from being 17 on one day and 18 the next can determine their adulthood. Being an adult comes gradually as people take responsibilities for their actions, take care of priorities and look out for themselves with limited support of others. Adulthood is not determined by age or ability to bear children or being physically developed. I know people older than 18 who have not yet obtained these traits and I’ve seen many teen moms dependent on their parents to support the baby. I will be an adult when I am able to make the right decisions determined by my morals that I have acquired over my years, when I understand the repercussions of my actions, when I am self-sufficient or accept limited help from parents or friends, and when I care not only for myself but others. The closer I get the more frightened I become. Now I’m in no rush to become an adult. I will take advantage of my mom’s guidance and housing and rules for as long as I can. I will enjoy the moment I am in and embrace my life when I am an adult. What does make you a grown-up? Is it moving out of the house? Hitting a certain age? Having a relationship? Getting a job? How is it that we can do those things, that we consider to be â€Å"adult†, but we still feel like kids? Or that we feel like grown-ups, we’re certainly old enough, but we haven’t seemed to have accomplished any of those things â€Å"grown-ups† have done? For me being an adult is a compilation of various features and components and is more or less a personal achievement. There is no exact pattern of becoming an adult as every single person has their own way of improvement. But you always have to make that first step that draws the beginning of your self-improving. There are a number of abilities I believe you have to acomplish in order to even begin to get closer to being an adult. The ability of making reasonable decisions for yourself and people around you, being able to take responsibility for your actions, able to make the most of what you have and try to improve yourself in any possible way. Becoming an adult is a journey everyone should make at a certain moment in order to become the most they can be, to grow as an individual – mentaly and spiritually. If I could describe McDonald’s business strategy in one word, I would definitely say ‘smart’. And I mean that in the best-rounded way. I very strongly agree with McDonald’s CEO, Steve Easterbrook, when he says, â€Å"If you get the people right, the rest will follow†. I believe that it is all a domino effect in the way an organization works; happy employees make for better production. McDonalds has proven itself as a good employer because of its five â€Å"people principles† that focus on keeping the employee happy and comfortable first and foremost. I think that they are successful because of the way they hire their employees. Because McDonalds strives for excellent service and quality, they work hard at finding the correct employees and retaining them, thus creating an experienced and capable taskforce. 2. McDonalds has aligned its business, human resource, and staffing strategies by connecting all three of these fields to one main source: the employees. By raising its hiring standards, McDonalds has hired, trained, and retained employees that are enthusiastic about giving their all to the customer. 3. Some possible talent-related threats that could eat away at McDonald’s competitive advantage would be when their teenage employees are ready to move on to other companies where they can build a career. Higher turnover would definitely be a problem for all companies, not just McDonalds. I don’t believe a tight labor market in which it is difficult to find talented people would be a problem for McDonalds because you don’t have to be highly educated or have any educational qualifications to work at the company. To maintain its competitive advantage over the next five years, I recommend that McDonalds simply continue doing what they are doing. They look for all the ri ght qualities and potential in their employees, so I believe they will always be successful on the ‘people part’.
